Backcountry maintenance.
In spring our crew traverses backcountry trail systems, clearing downed trees by axe, cleaning & profiling drainages, and preparing the trails for the summer ahead.
The use of axes, paired with the practiced knowledge to wield them wisely, allows us to efficiently patrol the trail networks we work on. Our traditional style of maintaining with axes and hoes allows us to keep the weight down and helps keep the costs down for our partners. Axe use has, and should remain, a skillset that is carried on by those who care in these storied mountains.
